Good Logic from Huckabee On Gay “Marriage”

Here’s a great video of former Governor and Presidential Candidate from Arkansas Mike Huckabee answering some questions from a student at Union College concerning “Gay Marriage”. His reasoning is pretty overwhelming. I’ve listen to the governor address this topic in detail many times and have learned a lot from the way he goes about it, both from his logic and from his compassion and humility. This is not an easy issue to take a stand on in our culture and especially in the political realm, but Huckabee has stood firm….and for good reasons.

I think more people need to hear this. If you’ll notice, even though he’s a Christian, his response here is on a level that is not explicitly based on some Scripture that he believes (though in my opinion, he could easily appeal to the Bible or God’s authority and he probably would in a church or some other setting.) We must ultimately look to what God says and obey the Scriptures, but Huckabee has thought hard on explaining the dangers of ”gay marriage” even for people that will reject what the Bible is saying. I think we all, Christians and non-Christians alike, can learn a lot from listening to Gov. Huckabee.

  1. josh always has to bring up politics…its over, let the huckabee thing die already….why did anyone let you post that??

  2. who wrote that? I didnt bring that up for political reasons. Did you even watch the video?

  3. That would be a no I’m guessing. Furthermore, the fact that you wrote “let the Huckabee thing die” supports the fact that you didnt even read the post, you just looked at the word “Huckabee” and assumed I was somehow campaigning for Huckabee in this post.

    1. If you followed politics, you’d know that Huckabee is not even in the ract, therefore there is no point for me to campaign for him.
2.I am using him as an example here of how to answer questions concerning gay marriage. And if you actually read my comment and watched the video instead of reading the heading and then jumping on the opportunity to rebuke me in a comment you would have seen that. I would have used a video of you or anybody else if you had made similar statements.

    3. I’ve made countless posts on this blog and this is one of the few, perhaps the only one, that even used a political figure. (Even though is wasnt primarily “political” whatever that means.) It was about Gay marriage.

    4. I’m a partner on this blog and if you have a problem with it, then go read someone else’s post.

    5. If you have a problem with me bringing up politics, you could have told me yourself to my face….since you obviously know me.(instead of posting your initials)

    6. What would you bring up? Im just curious. Politics in my view is a far reachin issue including all kinds of major issues including cultural, moral, religious, etc. Ive already pointed out that I do NOT bring up politics all the time, but what is the point in bringing it up consistently??

    7. I hate politics

    8. Read an entire post before you comment again.

  4. here is you a list mister smarty pants:

    1. For the last 12 months before Huckabee was eliminated, you loved politics. In fact, if you have watched less than 500 youtube videos about a politician then i will say you dont like politics, but i dont think is true…

    2. The fact that Huckabee is no longer in the race doesnt mean that you have quit supporting him, if you have, that means you were just jumping on the bangwaggon..

    3. I think you overexaggerate when you say that you have posted ‘countless’ times in this blog. In fact, you have only posted around 7 times(not including your mcdonalds video) and you have talked about politics 15% of the time.

    4. If you are a partner, they should kick you out.

    5. Well, if you havent realized this yet, you are on a computer, limiting the number of face to face discussions..

    6. So in #6 you say that Politics is a “far reachin issue including all kinds of major issues including cultural, moral, religious, etc”, then in #7 you say that you ‘hate’ politics. Which is it? Apparently you are like a former democratic politician that spent a lot of time flip flopping on issues, interesting..

    8. I read the entire post, and i didnt like it.

  5. 1. 15% of the time on 7 posts is what?….haha….not all the time.

    2. No I havent quit supporting him….but not for President in this election. Those were the precise meaning of my comments.

    3. It’s funny that you’re obviously somebody that knows me pretty well, but you never said anything about this to my face. I think a real friend would confess his concern if I was too “in” to something to me other than a ridiculing comment on a blog.

    4. You’ll have to talk to them about kicking me out.

    5. This isnt your blog.

    6. you seemed to misunderstand what you mentioned in your #6. It’s not that hard to understand how I can hate something but still be focused on it. I hate abortion. I hate the whole fact that people have to campaign on such an issue that is so obvious. So, I naturally love it when someone says something good and actually states the obvious. I hate the world of politics. Let me say again,…I hate the world of politics. My involvement in is akin to fighting sin. I talk about sin a lot….in conversations, sermons, etc. ….but I hate it. I hate it in my own life and I hate it in others. I hate how it destroys lives and dishonors God. So, your comment is like saying anything someone mentions sin in a comment that they “like sin.” It’s not rocket science. And if you had ever bothered getting my philosophy on the whole thing instead of reading into things you would have understood that and wouldnt have had to resort to calling me a flipflopper.

    8. Hey, its fine that you didnt like the post. Would you have liked it if it wasnt from me or didnt have Mike Huckabee in it??
(that would tell me a lot)
And like I said, it fine that you didnt like the post, but guess what it’s my post and you didnt have to read it.
and you didnt have to respond to it. But you’re more than welcome to do so.
However, next time, I would have a logical argument or grievance or discussion point about the actualy post and its content, not me or any of our other authors. (which was what your point amounted to)

If you didnt like the post, either comment on what is wrong with the post, or go read something else please.

  6. For Mr. Bullock, the Politician:

    1. I didnt say all the time, maybe you should be the one rereading.

    2. Unfortunately I cant make comments and notions on what you ‘meant’ i can only go by what you said, therefore, you must either stop posting or be more clear.

    3. Again, this is a Blog, therefore i cant see or talk to you face to face. However, this blog contains a section for comments and that is what i did. This blog is open to the public for a reason, so people like me(who dont know you) can read and comment on your thoughts. That is what I did. Sorry if i broke the rules of blogging and actually posted on your blog.

    4. I am not your friend.

    5. You may not like politics but you have a weird way of showing it. I dont like abortion, therefore, i dont use it as a platform for my ideas. I hate sin, therefore, i dont use it as a platform for my ideas. However, if you hate politics so much, you should probably stop using it to platform your own personal ideas.

    6. You cant count.

    7. Listen mr bullock, i am not a fan of Huckabee and i dont know you. I only assumed this was a Christian blog where i would be welcome to read and express what I thought. I guess I was wrong and for that I apologize and will never return.

    8. My thoughts concerning the blog are this:
-By your attitude Mr. Bullock, i would assume that you are not married. Same sex marriage might be the way to go.

  7. 1. Haha…YOU WROTE: “why does Josh ALWAYS have to bring up politics?” ……So unless you’re saying “all the time” is different from “always” …….no sir, YOU need to be the one rereading.

    2. No sir, I wont stop posting because as already stated, this is my blog(and my partners)….not yours. I will always seek to be more clear though. But unfortunately sometimes you can be so clear that children could understand what you “meant” but adults somehow get confused. amazing isnt it? I hope I was clear.

3 and 4. You’re lying, you do have a right to post on this blog. That is clear. But you cant know me and not know me at the same time. You’re comments such as up your first post give it away that you know me. I’ve made one semi-quasi-really not even remotely political post on this blog. And its the only place Ive done so publicly. The only other options are what you’ve seen on facebook(meaning I know you) or personal conversation (meaning I know you) …..although, you may in fact not be my friend…and that would be further supported by the fact you lied to me.

    5. What you fail to realize is that you yourself just used all of those issues to “platform your own ideas”. apparently you dont understand logic very well.

    6. I’ve counted to 6 so far. And that’s a whole lot better in my opinion that thinking 15% of my posts being devoted to politics is “always bringing it up”

    7. Ah…you’re true colors come out. why hide your feelings behind a comment. The truth is you dont like Mike Huckabee. (thats the second time you’ve been dishonest) ….and you DO know me….(that’s the third time you’ve been dishonest)
And this IS A CHRISTIAN blog and you are welcome to read and express what you thought,….but the problem is that you have to do the reading first! (obviously you did not, even though you say you did)

7.5 I’m glad you wont be returning.

    8. That was a very un-Christian statement by you for someone who says they value Christian discussion. A backhanded assertion of someone’s marital status and then an incenuated insult is definitely not very Christian. In fact, it reminds me of a friend of mine (a friend that really does know me) who when he gets frustrated often resorts to those kinds of insults. He used to be really bad about it when he played video games and other things. He grew out of it though and went on to maturity.

Yep, you remind me a lot of him. Especially how he gets kicks out of consuming other peoples time with pointless arguments. In fact, I could almost swear that you were him! His name is Adam Willett and he’s kind of a pansie….

Yep, I’m sure of it. You’re Him. Thanks for wasting my time Adam….

P.S. You owe me a coke now

  8. good job, i assume that nathan told you..unless you used that smart brain of yours to figure it out, but you have to admit, my number 8 was funny!!!! ……i love you though…..i will buy you a whole dinner next time i see you..

  9. and you can’t spell…..its pansy, moron…

  10. but i guess you still get a dinner..

  11. I figured after a while that it was probably somebody just messing with me. I did some digging and found out that the comments came from someone who had ConwayCorp internet. And some other things didnt add up. So I mentioned it to Nathan and I could tell from his reaction that it was either him or he knew who did it. Then he spilled the beans.
